The Bad Cat Classic Cat boutique amp is one of those great yet simple amps that truly brings out the sound of your guitar. It’s a 20-watt amp that features one volume control, one tone control, and one Celestion Vintage 30 twelve inch speaker, and it’s classified as a Class A amp. This speaker has been custom made to specs created by Bad Cat’s top amp designers, so you know it will deliver. A dual 6V6 and an Accutronics reverb tank round out the main stats on this great boutique amp.
You’ll only find three knobs on the amp: volume, reverb, and tone, but don’t like the simplicity of the Bad Cat Classic Cat fool you. The amp provides some very great tones regardless of where you set the tone control. In fact, it’s been known to provide bold, clean sounds at half volume. At high volume, it still creates a very smooth, rich tone. The reverb is amazing, too, providing everything from subtleness to in your face sound. Many recommend the Bad Cat Classic Cat for those who play rock or blues, and while it’s useful for playing live, you may need a PA to really get the sound out there. Don’t let that discourage you, though—this amp provides some excellent tones for small venues, and it is fairly lightweight and portable as well.
