Carr Slant 6V

The Carr Slant 6V boutique amp was manufactured by Carr Amplifiers, a company based in North Carolina. They’re known for their high quality hand-wired tube amps that bring together some of the best aspects of Vintage Fender Blackface and Fender Tweed amps. carr-slant-6v Carr amps are popular among the boutique amp set including Joe Perry, Richie Sambora, Christ Stamey, Ed King, Nils Lofgren, Reggie Young, and Neko Case. The Slant 6V is best known for offering both great British and American tones in one unit.

The Carr Slant 6V features reverb on both channels and the ability to use the footswitch to turn the boost on and off. The first channel gives you great a great classic sound with overdriven blues, while the second is perfect for dual gain and a dynamic response. The reason this amp can provide so much is that it’s hand-built and designed to be incredibly versatile without giving up any power or clarity.

When run at full power (you can also run the Slant 6V at half-power), the amp uses four 6V6 output tubes that are paired off in fixed bias and cathode pairs. This means the amp can produce just about any classic tube tone you can imagine. If you run the amp in half-power mode, you can select either fixed bias mode or cathode bias mode. In cathode mode, you’ll get tones that remind you of early tweed combos, while in fixed bias mode, the tones will be more defined. It all depends on what sound you want.
