Divided by 13 is an amp company that does one thing some other amp companies don’t: listen to the needs of players. In fact, the company was founded based on the needs of four different players: Nick Lashley, Rusty Anderson, Lyle Workman, and Joel Shearer. The four Los Angeles players were all friends with Fred Taccone, owner and founder of Divided by 13, and they all had the same types of complaints about their amps. Fred got the four together and they proceeded to spend hours listening to every different type of amp they could find, making note of what was great about each and what wasn’t.
Fred then began building his own amps that featured the best of the best. Soon, word spread about their great amps, and musicians like Paul McCartney and Alanis Morissette started using Divided by 13 products. Fred was, of course, no stranger to building amps. He had worked for Risson Amps, a company started by ex-Fender designer Bob Rissi, while he was still in high school. He later worked at Fender and at Music Man before moving on to a job in concert promotion. He later worked as a recording engineer until he met his wife and retired.
It was during this time that Fred started to repair amps. At first, it was just a side gig, but soon, he was repairing equipment for different stores and musicians. By the time he met with the four players mentioned above, Fred was known throughout the area as one of the go-to guys for any amp repair or mod. Soon, he was building custom amps for players, and it wasn’t long after that that he founded Divided by 13 and began to mke amps professionally. Today, Fred and Divided by 13 offer ten different amps, and more are planned. His client list has grown for a handful to more than a hundred. If you want an amp that features only the best qualities of dozens of different amps, you want a Divided by 13 product.
The Lift is a clean, linear, adjustable 9db boost with buffered Low Imp Output. Whether you need a number or two more clean headroom, or to go from 4 to 8 on the volume knob, or 6 to over-the-top compressed, sustaining overdrive, all is available with the Lift!
All the way down to the original glass Mullard OC44 transistor, the "Dyna-Ranger" is a 5 range version of our favorite single germanium transistor treble booster from England used by an array of players from Eric Clapton and David Gilmore to Tony Iommi and Brian May. Going from position 1 to 5, the "Dyna-Ranger" covers all tones from the traditional treble booster to more in the middle "woman tones" to thick and lower Sabbath tones. It is THE perfect sounding boost/drive pedal.Rounding it off, we've added an "onboard" power converting circuit to allow the use of standard 9V power supplies in place of batteries, and a socket for the transistor allowing the player to try other transistors also found in the original versions of the pedal (SKT275, CV7003, Metal OC44, etc.). Just ask to add any of these transistors to your order for a try.
With an overly stout and painstakingly developed power supply made to accommodate two sets of power tubes, the JRT 9/15 offers the biggest sound in a low wattage amplifier heard to date.
Starting from right to left, the single input of the amplifier (high and low sensitivity) feeds the inputs of two 5879 Pentodes, each with its own volume control and blendable. Each is voiced differently: one is brighter with more clean headroom while the other is gainier and thicker in the low mids. Added to this volume is a 6 position switch which offers a "bright cap" selection. The last knob is a high cut for the overall amplifier. The "Mode" toggle provides a selection of either 9+ Watts with 6V6s, or 15+ Watts with EL84s, offering and exceeding the best tones available in some of our favorite late 50's American 6V6 amplifiers, and our favorite EL84/EL34 English amplifiers.
Refined and voiced closer to our favorite EL84 30 Watt amplifier from England, the RSA 31 offers a little more pronounced midrange and is a little more aggressive than the ERT 33, but still retains a tight, punchy lower end and has half power potential Channel One is laid out with Volume, Treble, "Middle", and Bass controls, giving the player the ability to move around the most important "Middle" of this type of amplifier format. And rounding it off, Channel Two remains the now familiar, gainier "Click" Channel powered by a 5879 Pentode with an adjustable frequency range and volume control. RSA 31s -- Now available in a smaller, one channel version to go with 2x12D cabinet "Small Club Series", or whichever cabinet you prefer. The CCC 9/15 Combines two of our most popular amplifiers!
By taking the front end (preamp) "Flexibility" of the CJ 11 with it's more traditional tone arrangement of volume (with pull gain/mid boost), treble, bass, and master volume and combining it with the JRT 9/15's "Switchable", by toggle "Dual" back end (power amp) of either (2) 6V6GT's at 9 watts or (2) EL84's at 15 watts you get the biggest sound in a low wattage amplifier heard to date, and NOW with the increased "Flexibility" some customers need. Simply stunning tonal variety for all low wattage applications!
