65 Amps has produced a number of great products, including the Lil’ Elvis boutique amp. This amp is one of their most interesting amps in that in uses amp designs that haven’t been seen since the 60s. The amp is based on a 2xEL84 tube setup with a 12AX7 front. It provides a very clean 12 watts of power. While the Lil’ Elvis is a small boutique amp, it doesn’t have a small feel to it at all. Its tone and abilities are far beyond what one would expect from an amp of this size.

Besides its great touch response and its amazing harmonic content, the Lil’ Elvis includes 65 Amps’ special Master Voltage feature. This innovative power technology is different from an attenuator, scaling schema, or master volume. It keeps all of the vocabulary, response, and authority of the amp down to around two or three watts. Because of this, the Lil’ Elvis is a very powerful amp for recording, playing small gigs, or even when playing on a large stage. 65 Amps is a small amp company located in North Hollywood, California. All of their amps are hand-wired and built with only the highest quality parts. In fact, because the first amps produced by the company were for players to use in concert and not as products, these amps truly are built for players. They use more than just the same types of circuits and parts that other amps use—they have come up with some very innovative ideas that have led to some of the most versatile and unique amps in the industry. One of the keys to their amazing amps is the transformers they created with Mercury Magnetics. These hand wound transformers give their amps the ability to handle much more than amps that use machine would transformers can.

The company was founded by Peter Stroud, the guitarist for Sheryl Crow. He needed a low powered amp to use in Crow’s shows that required low volumes. Crow’s lower stage volume allowed her vocals to be incredibly clean, but it was often difficult for Stroud to not overpower her with his guitar. He sat down with Dan Boul to create an amp that would be versatile enough for his tone but still not overpower the vocals. Within a few months of creating their first amp, they had requests for amps from more than two dozen other guitarists.

Because 65 Amps was created by people who are professional players first and the businessman second, they don’t design any of their amps with marketing as a primary motive. Instead, they strive to deliver amps that really help professional players find their sound. None of their amps are copies of others or recreations; instead, they are all original designs that offer some great tones and sounds that many guitarists have found to be exactly what they need.

The 65 London Boutique Amp from 65 Amps is based on some of the greatest low powered amps built in the mid 1960s. These amps were the favorites of many top musicians, and the 65 London is just as popular. If you need an amp that provides that great British sound and tone but isn’t huge and bulky, the 65 London is exactly what you want. The amp is used by just about everyone in the business for many different events, including in the recording studio, on tour, on large and small stages, and even at home for practice. It truly is quite the versatile amp.

This Class A amp features two EL84 tubes, a 12AX7 tube, a EF86 tube, and is cathode biased. This combines to allow the amp to create a deep, warm tone with some very rich harmonics. You truly get that big amp sound no matter where you’re playing. The 65 London produces two very distinct sounds, so it’s like having two amps in one.

The amp’s color channel is driven by the EF86 pentode tube and features a six-way switch and a tone knob. You can adjust it mid-focus to create both sounds you’d hear during the British Invasion and very rich, harmonic tones like you’d get from today’s modern amps. The trem channel, driven by the 12AX7 tube, features only one knob and a Bias tremolo controlled by the footswitch. This feature gives you more classic British, blues, and rock sounds.
