Channel 1, is the clean circuit, while with channel two you can dial in some nice crunchy overdrive. Channel one has controls for volume and cut, which is actually somewhat of a presence control.  The second channel gives you master volume and gain to play with.

The Lil’ 15 uses two 12AX7s for the preamp on channel one and then brings it home with two EL84s.  The second channel gets its hot sound from the EF86 tube that powers it.  The amp uses hand would power and output transformers, which were used to determine just how big the Lil’ 15 is—the amp is only as tall as the transformers.  The Lil’ 15 measures 14” long by 8.5” high by 7 inches deep.  It weighs only 21 pounds.

The Bad Cat line of amps is fairly diverse. The Bad Cat Cub II and the Cub II Reverb are small amps, but are perfect for a lot of situations . Bad Cat Amps are known for their clean, warm sound, but with the ability to get a nice array of overdriven tones too. One great feature of the Cub II is that it’s built very, very solidly. This amp was built to be a workhorse. It’s also compact and light-weight enough that you can stow it in the trunk or back seat when going to a gig and still have room for more.

The Cub II, which is powered by 15 watts, comes with or without reverb. It features one channel and two inputs. The amp features a volume, cut, reverb, and master volume. You’ll also find a five-way rotary tone switch or an interactive bass and treble control. The amp is powered by a 12AX7 tube in the pre-amp section and two EL84 amps for main power. The amp weighs 55 pounds and measures 24 inches long by 18.5 inches high by 10.75 inches deep.

The Mini II uses two 12AX7 pre-amp tubes and a single EL-84 tube for power. This is a great practice amp for folks in the city with limited space as it sounds great at a low volume. The amp features volume, bass, treble, and a master control, plus you can select between four, eight, and sixteen Ohm.  The amp weighs about 30 pounds.

You’ll only find three knobs on the amp: volume, reverb, and tone, but don’t let the simplicity of the Bad Cat Classic Cat fool you.  The amp provides a great range of clean to dirty tone. At half volume the classic delivers a bold, clean sound. Crank it up and add a little reverb and you get a killer blues/rock tone.  This amp is excellent for small venues, or mic'd through the PA, and it is fairly lightweight and portable as well.

Here's a nice little of vid of Aerosmith's Brad Whitford playing the Bad Cat Hot Cat 30R. Some call this little 30 watt bad boy the "baddest" member of the Bad Cat Arsenal, and just from this rough demo you can get a pretty good sense of why.

Former Matchless ace designer Mark Sampson brings to Bad Cat his history of creating rich sounding amps with lots of clean headroom and character. This all-tube, duel EL34 combo is perfectly suited for players looking to capture a range of classic vintage
sounds with modern fidelity.

This amp is built with the characteristically excellent craftsmanship Bad Cat and Sampson are known for, featuring hand-crafted, all-tube grade A circuitry and wiring, steel chassis, thirteen ply cabinet made of Birch and a specially customized 12" Celestion speaker. The Hot Cat's panel features 2 inputs (one for clean and one for high gain) and controls for volume, master volume, level, gain, treble, bass and brilliance. Around back, you have an output for an external speaker and a switch to change from tube to solid state rectifier. The amp does not come with reverb.

The idea for the Bad Cat was to deliver a class A single channel amp that serves up a wider tonal pallete by duplicating two channel functionality. Each input runs into the pre-amp at different stages and can be controlled via an A-B foot switch. The other option is to link the inputs allowing loading of the preamp through the clean input and sweep-control of the overdrive off the gain input. Being able to swtich between solid state and tube rectifier stages allows for additional tonal variation.
