The Carr Artemus is a very versatile amp powered by four EL-84 power tubes. The amp features a fixed bias output that packs quite a punch but also has a smooth break up. The Mid and Edge controls allow you to sculpt the tones and pull everything from mellow cleans to a nasty overdrive. The Artemus features two 12AX7 pre-amp tubes, but unlike some amps, these tubes use an input modified circuit that emulates the EF-86 in thickness and in gain without use microphonics.

The Carr Aretemus features a volume, edge, bass, mid, and treble control. The amp also has a 30/15 watt toggle switch, plus a bias pot and bias test point. In addition to the 12AX7s and EL-84s, the amp also features a 5AR4/GZ34 rectifier tube. All in all, the amp is very versatile and of high quality. Used, the Artemus amp costs around $2,000.

The Carr Raleigh Boutique Amp is a very versatile amp that can be used for practice or in the studio. It can provide both clean and pristine tones and very heavily overdriven tones, but no matter which you want, the amp will deliver at any volume. The Carr Raleigh amp is somewhat based on the amps produced during the 50s and 60s.

The Carr Raleigh Boutique Amp features a 1x10 combo and a ten inch speaker. It is powered by two 12AX7 tubes and an EL-84 tube. It has three switches: an overdrive/clean toggle, a tone control, and a volume control. It is completely hand wired and features carbon composition resistors, a high-end Canare cable, and hospital grade power cords. It also uses a 12 gauge aluminum chassis, polypropylene filter caps, and custom wound interleaved bobbin transformers. It’s built in a solid pine cabinet that looks great on stage, but it is also very useful in a studio or to practice with.

The Carr Raleigh Boutique Amp is smaller and cheaper than the Carr Mercury Amp, making it ideal for anyone who doesn’t need a larger, louder amp. This smaller amp is very nice for those who need a portable amp with clean headroom and a full gain tone. Few small amps are capable of this, which makes the Carr Raleigh Boutique Amp quite useful.

The Carr Viceroy Boutique Amp, previously called the Vincent amp, is one of Carr’s classic American amps. To take care of one concern right away: if you have a Vincent amp, you don’t need to run out and buy a new one—the Viceroy is a change in name only. Everything else is still exactly the same. Just like the Vincent, the Viceroy is a 33/7 watt amp that features a number of great options. You’ll find controls for the volume, midrange, bass, treble, reverb, drive, and a switch to move between 33 watts and 7 watts. The treble and midrange controls give you many different tone possibilities, making this amp quite versatile.

The Class A Carr Viceroy boutique amp features two 6L6 output tubs, three 12AX7’s, and one 12AT7. It also features an interesting drive control that actually blends part of the 12AX7 used for reverb back into the circuit, making use of the part of the 12AX7 that wasn’t being used at all. But instead of creating distortion like some may think, doing this actually fattens the tone and adds some girth to it. It fills out as the volume is turned up, and while at a lower setting, the tone is actually much cleaner.

Because of its two power settings, you can make use of the Carr Viceroy amp at both home practices and for recording. It’s loud enough for live settings, too. Used, the amp will cost around $1,600, while it will run $2,390 if purchased new from www.carramps.com.

The Carr Rambler 2x12 boutique amp produces some of the best, clean tones of any amp. In fact, some players have even gone on record as saying that they’ve never heard another amp produce such great tremolo or reverb. The Carr Rambler is one of Carr Amplifier’s most popular amps, even today, thanks to its ability to deliver some great, classic American tones, its clean headroom, and its solid bass response.

The Carr Rambler features a 28 watt pentode mode and a 14 watt triode mode. Its dual 6L6 Rambler delivers some amazingly clean and rich tones, and this amp is great for playing at home, in small clubs, or for recording in the studio. It only has a single channel, but that channel does feature both tremolo and reverb (which can be controlled by a footswitch), and there is zero feedback from this amp. Because the Carr Rambler provides such a clean tone, it is one of a few amps that is perfectly suited to almost any type of overdrive pedal ever.

As far as tubes go, the Carr Rambler features 3 12AX7s, a 12AT7, and 2 6L6GC tubes. It has controls for treble, middle, reverb, bass, tremolo speed, tremolo depth, and, of course, volume. The amp’s standard color is black, but it can be done in a number of custom colors and designs as well. The compact size of the Carr Rambler makes it quite portable, as well, so it’s a good amp to take on the road.

The Carr Slant 6V boutique amp was manufactured by Carr Amplifiers, a company based in North Carolina. They’re known for their high quality hand-wired tube amps that bring together some of the best aspects of Vintage Fender Blackface and Fender Tweed amps. Carr amps are popular among the boutique amp set including Joe Perry, Richie Sambora, Christ Stamey, Ed King, Nils Lofgren, Reggie Young, and Neko Case. The Slant 6V is best known for offering both great British and American tones in one unit.

The Carr Slant 6V features reverb on both channels and the ability to use the footswitch to turn the boost on and off. The first channel gives you great a great classic sound with overdriven blues, while the second is perfect for dual gain and a dynamic response. The reason this amp can provide so much is that it’s hand-built and designed to be incredibly versatile without giving up any power or clarity.

When run at full power (you can also run the Slant 6V at half-power), the amp uses four 6V6 output tubes that are paired off in fixed bias and cathode pairs. This means the amp can produce just about any classic tube tone you can imagine. If you run the amp in half-power mode, you can select either fixed bias mode or cathode bias mode. In cathode mode, you’ll get tones that remind you of early tweed combos, while in fixed bias mode, the tones will be more defined. It all depends on what sound you want.

The Raleigh
The Raleigh is a Carr amplifier that has three knobs as well as three watts that is stylish while being versatile. This small combo truly has dual personalities because it is great for practice as well as recording.

The Viceroy
The Viceroy is a Carr amplifier that was formerly known as the Vincent. This is a dual 6L6 amplifier that is great on stage, in the studio, or just at home thanks to its full range of sound. The Viceroy is 33/7 watt and is very useful when you need one amp to do lots of jobs.

Rambler
The Rambler is a dual 6L6 based amp and is great for use in studios, at home, or even in the club thank to a lot of clean headroom. This 28/14 watt amplifier delivers a wide variety of sounds at different levels and takes pedals great.

Slant 6V
The Slant 6V is a 40 watt amplifier that has four 6V6 power tubes and is a stage amplifier that is very versatile. The amp features full power and half power modes that are available and two channels controlled by foot switch.

Mercury
Those with a small workspace or who perform in small areas will appreciate the Mercury Carr amplifier because it may be powered at 8 watts or as low as 1/10th a watt. Those who live in small apartments or who perform in small venues will find the Mercury to be the perfect amp. Great overdriven tweed and blackface style tones.
Hammerhead MK II

Those looking for a studio or stage amp should consider the Hammerhead MK II for its britsh style overdrive and rich overall clean tone. This is a 28 watt dual EL34 amp.

The Carr Mercury Amplifier is perhaps the ultimate studio or practice amp as it delivers huge rich reverb and overdriven tube sounds at low volumes. If you're a vintage tone hound then this little combo will satisfy a whole range of classic tones from spongy tweed, to blackface and plexi style overdrive.

It features a 3 way gain switch, a treble cut switch, and an onboard attenuator delivering 8, 2, 1/2, or 1/10 watt output. Stick a mic in front of this amp, and using the 8 watt setting you have more than enough headroom to bring a wide range of classic tones to any gig.

The Mercury is completely hand wired by expert craftsman Steve Carr. The Mercury can really achieve some subtle to intense output tube overdrive and the EL-34 power tube delivers a really fat and rich sound.
